Proton for enterprise distributors
Turn your scale into profitable growth
Proton brings your business data and AI agents together on one platform.

From enterprise distributors on Proton

“MSC made an early bet on Proton in 2021, believing leaps in distribution effectiveness would come from artificial intelligence. That bet has paid off with Proton becoming an important partner, helping us enhance revenue generation and automate work to improve our speed and efficiency. Since that time, we have doubled down on AI-enabled solutions across the entire enterprise to move our business forward.”

“It’s not just a reporting tool, it’s a sales growth engine. We’re giving the sales team a sports car, not a ball and chain.”

“In just two minutes in the car before they go into a dental office, sales reps can quickly skim through the app and see everything going on with that customer, and that knowledge is powerful when they engage with their customers.”
Customer story
Vallen put its inside sales team back to selling
Vallen moved service tasks to a Center of Excellence, then used Proton to help inside sellers decide where to focus. Its customer story reports a 72% increase in sales per inside rep. Shared account activity also helps inside and outside sales coordinate the next conversation.
“Proton makes us look like experts. The customer thinks we know everything — because the tool does.”

One platform for work that crosses the business
Every module and agent runs on the same connected customer, product, and operating data, and Pronto lets anyone ask about it in plain language.
Know who to call and what to sell
Find spending gaps, at-risk accounts, and cross-sell opportunities. Give each rep a plan for who to call and what to discuss.
Growing by acquisition? Proton connects every ERP you bring in
Each distributor you buy can keep its own ERP. Proton reads every one, so your team sees each customer and order in one place.

Forward-deployed engineers build software with you
Proton engineers work with your team to build custom-fit software for how your business runs.

Connect the business (and keep your ERPs)
Proton connects to your existing ERPs, whether you run one or several. We work with your team to map relevant records, bring forward history, and define access. If you acquire a business, its history can join that picture while records and catalogs stay distinct where needed.
- 6 sites linked to their legacy Apex account records
- Purchase history brought forward from the connected Apex ERP
- Apex keeps its own catalog and customer records
Protect margin on every quote
Pricing AI, in early access, recommends each customer’s price from their buying history, inside your margin rules.
Buy for the demand you expect
Inventory AI, in early access, forecasts demand by SKU, location, and season, and drafts the PO for purchasing to approve.

Choose the job, the trigger, and what the agent can use. Test the result before turning it on. As you add teams and modules, build on the data already connected to Proton. Your team sets the business rules; Proton maintains the platform.
Security and IT
Give IT clear boundaries for data and actions
Proton supports SSO/SAML and role-based permissions. Customer data is encrypted at rest and in transit and logically separated between customers. A SOC 2 Type II report is available through our Trust Center. Proton also undergoes annual third-party penetration testing.
Define which data each team can access, what agents can use, and which actions need approval. Agree on the ERP read/write paths and the system that records each transaction before rollout. Your ERPs remain the systems of record.

MSC’s call center went from taking orders to making them
MSC, a $3.7 billion industrial MRO distributor with 5,000 employees, replaced a sales intelligence system that wasn’t delivering.
Questions enterprise distributors ask
They build custom-fit software for your business. Forward-deployed engineers are Proton engineers who give enterprise distributors bespoke attention, working with your team on the workflows your business needs. Proton maintains what they build indefinitely, at SaaS pricing.
Proton turns customer history, product data and sales activity into specific reasons to get in touch. Reps can spot categories a customer isn’t buying, follow up on an unanswered quote and use Pronto to prepare a relevant conversation. That gives a large sales team a practical starting point for growing existing accounts, while each rep brings the relationship knowledge that makes the recommendation useful.
Proton adds AI for the work distributors need to do: spot account growth opportunities, match customer product lists and improve the data behind a quote. Proton CRM is also available as part of the platform. Sales plays run in Proton today; we scope proposed access from another CRM separately. We map a useful first workflow between systems, so reps know where to find an opportunity, prepare their conversation and act on it.
Yes. Our in-house engineers connect your ERPs, including legacy and customized systems; we’ve successfully integrated with 100% of the ERPs customers have brought us. For several ERPs, we build a shared data foundation around how customer, product and vendor records relate across entities, giving teams a consistent view to work from. Your data owners help settle duplicates and record rules, and our engineers build that work into the rollout.
Proton leads the technical setup and rollout plan; your team helps us get the data and workflows right. We agree on owners, milestones and the time needed from IT, business leads and early adopters. Implementation and Customer Success work with those first users on an everyday task, such as following up on an unanswered quote. Their feedback shapes training and the wider launch around work reps already need to get done.
Yes. Proton’s cross-referencing workflow lets your team review suggested matches, including exact matches and alternatives. When we connect that work to quoting or product-data updates, we agree the matching rules, which fields can change and where your experts approve the next step. Our engineers configure and validate those handoffs as part of your project, so your team has a clear route from an AI suggestion to a checked result.
Yes. Proton is already used in day-to-day enterprise cross-referencing work. Your team can upload customer lists, let matching run in the background and return to review the results. Our engineers design the catalog and processing setup around your volumes, validating representative files and agreeing scheduling, exception handling and the handoff into the next task. Your team keeps working while the list is processed.
We can design a focused evaluation using your own data, with success measures agreed before the test. For product matching, that might mean time spent preparing lists, match quality and review effort. For sales, it could mean adoption and useful quote follow-up. We compare the results with your current process, review them with your team and agree what needs to be ready before expanding to another workflow, team or business.
Pronto works with the business data connected for your chosen workflows. Your security team can review each connection’s access, permitted actions and data handling with us. Proton runs on GCP, with MFA or SSO sign-in and controls documented in a reviewable SOC 2 Type II report. Pronto uses enterprise OpenAI and Anthropic APIs that do not train those providers’ models on customer data. We also cover storage and retention in your security review.
